Dr. Christopher Harvey is a Central Texas native. He was born and raised in East and North East Austin. Attended public schools in Austin ISD and graduated from LBJ High School. He went on to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work at Texas State University, a Master’s Degree in Education Administration at Concordia University, and a Doctor of Education Degree from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor.
Dr. Harvey has worked in campus and district leadership/administrator capacities over the last 11-years. He’s completed 4 campus transformations, helped to saved 3 campuses from falling below the TEA “met standard” rating, instituted 2 high functioning districtwide Career and Technology Education programs and 2 College and Career Readiness Programs. In addition, he helped create the Family Engagement programs, built systems to fix the poor financial ratings regarding federal and state programs, opened 6 libraries for summer reading programs, and won over $15 million dollars in grants. He received a national award for campus transformation from K12 at an international conference, served as a trainer/consultant for school districts and the University of Texas, teaches part-time for Texas State University and Concordia University, and presents at local, regional and national conferences.
Currently, Dr. Harvey is completing the 4th campus transformation at the Manor Alternative Program. His campus serves as the district discipline alternative education program. The district has about 15 schools and 9000 students. In just his second year, the systems in place have reduced recidivism, discretionary placements, and increased academic achievement for some of the districts most challenging students.
