Going in Circles Goes A Long Way!

Lorraine Montes-Sklar is a Social Studies teacher at Cesar Chavez Academy in El Paso, Texas. She has over twenty- three years of educational experience dealing with middle school adolescence. Out of those twenty- three years, eighteen of those years are working at the DAEP and JJAEP campus for the Ysleta District. Lorraine comes from a long line of educators in her family which inspired her to pursue her education degree from the University of Texas at El Paso. In her career, she has served as a mentor in the new teacher induction program, has been a recipient of the Texas Governor’s award, “The Yellow Rose of Texas,” for numerous community service hours in mentoring families and youth of the U.S. Army. Lorraine has been trained in Restorative Discipline and is currently working to help promote restorative practices on her campus and as a district wide initiative. Her goal is to inspire as many at risk youth to challenge themselves to become successful students and productive members of society.
