Two online trainings from renowned student support specialist Dr. Andrea Ogonosky
Overview
Overidentification in special education is leading to increased TEA oversight and corrective actions, not to mention stressed out staff, exhausted diagnosticians, and sky high DNQ numbers. TEA cyclical reviews throughout the state are showing two things: a lack of data, which reveals a lack of MTSS interventions; and the right data is not going to the right people. Some current MTSS frameworks are broken, underutilized, or ineffective.
It’s time to go back to basics. New staff need to be trained, and seasoned staff need a refresher and a reset. These trainings are both an introductory training for classroom teachers, administrators, and academic interventionists and a refresher course for veteran staff.
Objectives include a strong understanding of legal compliance, the importance of effective data collection and analysis, a proactive problem-solving process, and strategic implementation of tiered levels of support. Additional information will be provided to enhance strategies for implementation and ensure the integrity of campus based and district wide systems.
